Ukrainian sugar output down 15%

Ukrainian 2018/2019 MY sugar output declined to 1.82 million tons, down 15% against 2018/2018 MY, Ukrainian National Association of Sugar Producers says referring to Ruslana Butylo, Association Board Deputy Chairman and Sugar World 2019 leading speaker, report.
«In total, 42 sugar plants worked within this MY; the plants have processed 13.6 million tons of sugar beets, down almost 10% against last MY. It is to be admitted, Ukrainian sugar beets sown areas’ shortening and sugar beets’ crop corresponding decline have resulted in the Association sugar output 15% decline. However, this sugar amount is enough to satisfy the domestic demand and cover the export contracts,» she admits.
It is to be admitted, within of 2018/2019 MY, Vinnytsia region remained, traditionally, the leader of Ukrainian sugar output (424,000 tons); Ternopilska region was the second biggest producer (227,000 tons); Poltava region the third biggest (222,500 tons).
