Mauritius downgrades its sugar output forecast for second time

As of this week, Mauritius has downgraded its 2018 sugar output forecast for the second time within the last 2 months due to rainfall deficit, Ukrainian State Service for Foods Safety and Consumer Protection says referring to the Reuters report.
As to the report, the Mauritius Department of Agrarian Development says that the country sugar output is expected to total 324,000 tons, down 1.8% against this year Sept forecast (330,000 tons) , which has also been reduced.
«The last few months’ deficit of precipitation in has negatively affected the growth and development of the sugar cane,» the report reads.
It is to be admitted, now the Mauritius agrarians have already harvested three quarters of the domestic sugar cane crop; as to experts, sugar cane crop harvesting is expected to be over until this year mid Dec.
