FAO, Nigeria to support responsible agriculture

As of last week, the 31st Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was held at FAO Rome headquarters, FAO reports.
As to the report, on the sidelines of the Meeting, FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu met with Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar, Nigerian Federal Minister of Environment.
As to the report, the Director-General and the Federal Minister discussed the importance of creating synergies and ensuring close collaboration of Ministries of Agriculture and Environment to address the climate change challenge.
In their talks, the parties agreed on the need to fulfill the agriculture products’ output requirements and to ensure quality and responsible agriculture. They also exchanged views on the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference COP25 and the Conference of the Parties COP15.
The Director-General, for his part, presented the Organization’s new Hand-in-Hand initiative, which was commended by the Federal Minister of Environment, as an action that could be implemented within Nigeria.
