USDA: Indian 2019/20 MY sugar output to decline by about 15%
23.10.2019 16:14 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As to the USDA experts forecast, the Indian 2019/20 MY sugar output is expected to decline to 29.3 million tons, down 14.6% against 2018/19 MY, Ukrainian National Association of Sugar Producers says referring to the Indiainfoline report.
As to USDA, the Indian 2019/20 MY sugar output decline will be mainly due to the country 2019/20 MY sugar cane crop reduction against 2018/19 MY (due to the sugar cane crop fall within Maharashtra and Karnataka, and crop area shortening within Uttar Pradesh).
At same time, the USDA expects that the Indian domestic sugar plants will continue to be focused on the ethanol, rather than the sugar, output (as ethanol output assures the sugar plants’ financiqal condition bettering and debts’ payment off).
As to USDA, though Uttar Pradesh will become the Indian biggest sugar producer , but its sugar output will not be enough to offset the 40% reduction of Maharashtra sugar output (and Karnataka 12%)
It is to be admitted, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka now assure 80% of the Indian sugar total output.
