Semerak: National Natural Park Kamianska Sich will be created within Ukraine

10.01.2019 23:44 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — At its today meeting, the Cabinet has approved the Ukrainian President draft Decree ‘On the Creation of the Kamianska Sich National Natural Park’, Government Portal reports. As to the report, while speaking within the meeting, Ukrainian Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Ostap Semerak has said the new national park will be located within the Beryslav district of the Kherson region; the park will cover 12.261,140 ha of the State-owned land. «Creation of the park has both environmental protection and historical significance. It was here that one of the main shrines of the Ukrainian Cossacks ‘Kamiansky Sich’ was located. In addition, it is a unique steppe zone area, with a variety of plants and animals listed within the Ukrainian Red Book. I am thankful to all those who has been working on this issue for many years. You have made an incredibly significant thing for the preservation of a unique land,» the Minister said. As to the report, he also added that the National Park creation is a joint decision of local authorities, scientific and environmental organizations and the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the decision which will enable preservation of the landscape diversity of the Low Dnieper regional ecological corridor, strengthen and expand the Ukrainian national ecological network.
