Governments adopt UN global migration pact to help ‘prevent suffering and chaos’

As of yesterday, within Marrakech ( Morocco) the Intergovernmental Conference to Adopt the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration started, UN Radio reports.
It is to be admitted, the Conference is to be held within this year Dec 10 - 11.
As to the report, the Conference is attended by the representatives of 164 countries; as of yesterday, the representatives approved an agreement on migration, designed to end the suffering of people worldwide who go in search of a better life and earnings to other countries. The full name of the new agreement is the ‘Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Legal Migration’.
As to the report, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called this document historic, stressing that it is a kind of «road map» that will help end the migration «chaos» in the world.
Reportedly, Guterres is confident that the adopted Compact will provide more «humane» management of migration flows in the interests of migrants and host states.
He stressed that the Compact is not a legally binding document, but a kind of basis for international cooperation in the field of migration, with full respect for the sovereignty of states.
Noting that a number of countries refused to accept the Migration Compact, UN Chief expressed the hope that over time they would recognize the value of its provisions for society and join the circle of its supporters.
It is to be admitted, the Migration Compact does not proclaim new rights. Its main idea is to remind that migrants have rights that must be respected. People who went for «a piece of bread» to rich countries, as UN Chief said, should not die on their way. They risk their lives because they have no choice, no future, no safe and legal alternative to migration. Guterres reminded that since 2,000 over 60,000 migrants have died on the path to a «better life». UN Chief called these tragedies «collective disgrace» of all mankind.
