Ukrainian alcohol beverages prices up 5-20%

03.10.2018 22:07 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — As of yesterday, Ukrainian domestic alcohol beverages prices have grown 5–20% as of previous due to Government decision to change alcohol beverages retail sale minimal prices, Interfax-Ukraine says referring to the Cabinet report. It is to be admitted, the Cabinet Decree № 748 «On Amending the Annex to the Ukrainian Cabinet Resolution of Oct 30, 2008 No. 957» entered into force as of this year Oct 2. As to the Decree, the Government has changed the domestic minimum prices for the alcoholic beverages. Thus, in part., domestic market wholesale/retail sale minimum prices have been grown depending on the alcohol beverages’ codes: for vodka and liqueur-vodka beverages by 12.4–19.6%; whiskey, rum and gin — by 12%; cognac — by 6.6–9.5%; wine — by 4.5–13.5%. Thus, domestic market 1 vodka bottle (0.5 liters, 40% spirit content) retail sale minimum price has been raised to UAH89.40 (up 12.4% against previous UAH79.55). As to the Government, this decision is to be explained with the fact that the domestic market alcohol beverages’ wholesale/retail sale minimum prices, introduced Sept 2017, now doesn’t correspond to the real expenditures of the domestic economic entities for the output and sale of their alcoholic beverages mainly due to the excise tax growth (thus, the domestic market brandy excise tax has grown 20%) and some other factors.
