Groisman: We will do utmost to ensure carrying out transparent and gradual privatization
23.05.2017 09:17 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of yesterday, while sharing an interview with the ICTV television channel, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groisman said the Cabinet, within the context of the priority tasks to stimulate development of the country, is going to begin a major overhaul of the privatization process which has been stalled within the last 25 years, Government Portal reports.
As to the report, Groisman stressed that the corresponding legislative framework had been already elaborated.
«The proposals of amendments to the legislation will be submitted to the Parliament,» he said.
He reminded that Ukraine had a different experience of denationalization, primarily negative. «When the privatization was triggered within the 90s, we all remember how people were given some kind of paper, businesses were taken away and we bear in mind what was the end of this Groisman said. What is now? There are inefficient enterprises. What we should do with them? The answer is to sell them through electronic public procurement system. It is a great step for the first time in 25 years. Why we sell them in such a way? To ensure that the entrepreneur who bought the company creates new jobs and starts producing a national product.»
Reportedly, the PM put an emphasis that within Ukraine there is a large number of unprofitable State-owned companies. «I have never seen poor CEOs,» he stressed, adding that the situation will change: transparently and step by step.
