Parliament approves law aimed at protecting forests
07.02.2017 18:13 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of today, the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) has approved the law to raise fines for littering of forests by 5 times (for citizens - from 25 to 50 untaxed minimums, for officials - from 50 to 100), NRCU reports.
As to the report, in addition, the document provides for more barriers to physical destruction of forests, including through so-called sanitary logging.
Reportedly, as noted in the explanatory memorandum, the adoption of this law will make it possible to bring Ukrainian legislation in line with international treaties for the protection of rare species of animals and plants, strengthen the protection of territories and objects of nature preserves and the fight against poaching.
