Rada boosts excise duties for beer by 12%, fortified alcohol by 20%, cigarettes by 40%

As of yesterday, the Verkhova Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) passed bill No. 5132 amending the Tax Code to provide for the balance of the 2017 Budget revenue, Interfax reports.
As to the report, the bill stipulates the boost of the excise duty for beer by 12%, to UAH 2.78 per liter (liquor and vodka - by 20%, to UAH 126.96 per liter).
Reportedly, the excise duty for cigarettes at the specific rate would grow by 40%, to UAH445.56 per 1,000 cigarettes, while the ad valorem rate was left unchanged (12%).
As to the report, the excise duty for dry wine is kept unchanged (UAH0.01 per liter), the rate for fortified wine and vermouths is raised by 12%, to UAH8.02 per liter and sparkling wine - by 12%, to UAH11.65 per liter.
