Rada extends list of renewable energy sources

02.11.2016 09:17 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — As of yesterday, while presenting in the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) the draft law "On amendments to the Law «On alternative energy sources», Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister/ Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Ghennadiy Zubko said Ukraine has to comply with the obligations of adaptation of national legislation to the legislation of the Energy Community, to grow the proportion of energy produced from renewable sources and to develop alternative sources of energy, Government Portal reports. It is to be admitted, the Parliament adopted the draft law as a whole. As to Zubko, it is proposed to clarify the meaning of «renewable energy» and adding to the list of renewable energy sources such types of energy as hydrothermal and aerothermal, and, besides, to determine that the heat energy generated by heat pumps from hydrothermal, aerothermal or geothermal energy is the one that is produced from renewable energy sources. «Ukraine signed the Paris Climate Agreement. It has undertaken serious obligations to reduce the consumption of energy resources and use of renewable sources of energy. We give a route map to our consumers how to move to extend the list of types of renewable energy that can be used to reduce gas consumption. In addition, it is a direct movement towards the independence of the country,» Zubko said.
