President meets with winners of “Teacher of the Year 2016” contest

As of last week, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with winners of «Teacher of the Year 2016» contest, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
It is to be admitted, the meeting was held ahead of the Day of Teacher (marked on Oct first Sun annually).
As to the report, while speaking within the meeting, President said that the country had managed to overcome the negative trend in the economy over the past two years, thus assuring preconditions to provide for the boost of teachers’ salaries within 2017 by a third.
As to the report, Poroshenko noted that the NSDC session on the state budget for 2017 had been held recently. «Funding education should be a priority for 2017. Salaries must be raised not by 5 or 10%. We agreed to reach the mark of 33%,» President informed.
As to him, the Government has fulfilled that task. This will be an additional financial motivation for the best professionals to stay in Ukrainian schools.
As to the report, within the meeting Poroshenko stressed the importance of teachers’ profession and thanked the Ukrainian teachers for good education of young generation.
