16.08.2016 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
China has joined the ranks of the worlds 25 «most innovative» economies, UN Radio says referring to the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2016 report.
As to the report, Switzerland, Sweden, the UK, the USA, Finland and Singapore lead the 2016 rankings in the GII.
It is to be admitted, the UN World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has co-authored the Index which ranks the innovation performance of 128 countries and economies around the world.
As to the report, highly developed economies have historically dominated the top of the Index throughout its nine years surveying the innovative capacity of countries.
However, the UN specialized agency says an «innovation divide» persists between developed and developing countries even despite the Chinese rise.
In meanwhile, policymakers worldwide are becoming still more aware that fostering of innovation is crucial to a vibrant, competitive economy.
