UN chief calls for more support for refugees and host communities

As of yesterday, while speaking within a joint press conference with the EC President Jean-Claude Juncker in Brussels, the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged the Europeans to remain committed to the ideals of solidarity and diversity, UN Radio reports.
As to the report, he also called for more joint action to better protect people seeking refuge on the continent.
Reportedly, the UN Secretary-General reminded about this year Mar 22 terrorist attacks in the Belgian capital which had killed 32 people.
At the same time, Ban expressed hope that Europes commitment to human rights, democracy and peaceful coexistence would overcome hatred and violence.
It is to be admitted, Ban also praised the EU countries for their support of the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement on climate change.
