Poroshenko: Decentralization provides enough powers to local communities for them to fulfill their functions

As of the last week, while giving a press conference in Kyiv, the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko noted he was confident in successful completion of the Ukrainian decentralization reform and emphasized that it would provide enough powers to local communities for them to fulfill all their functions and develop, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
«Just as I have promised during the presidential campaign, we have proposed constitutional amendments on decentralization providing local councils and communities with powers and liability. We have also ensured budgetary and financial decentralization doubling local budgets in comparison with 2013,» the President noted.
«We have given money, rights and liability. For what? Now, you have money to build roads, illumination, schools and kindergartens,» Poroshenko said.
As to the President, funds of local and regional councils must always be aimed at the development of their territories.
As to the report, the President admitted he was optimistic about the completion of the constitutional reform on decentralization.
