"Surprising" lack of awareness as world remembers slavery victims

As of yesterday, while speaking at the UN headquarters within a remembrance event devoted to the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade (observed annually Mar 25), the Professor Christopher DeCorse said the lack of awareness, shown presently in some parts of the world, of the international slave trade is «surprising», UN Radio reports.
It is to be admitted, the Professor Christopher DeCorse is specializing in African anthropology and the history of the Atlantic slave trade. One of the aims of the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade is to raise awareness about the dangers of racism and prejudice today worldwide.
