Poroshenko: Ukrainian-Turkish cooperation enhancement would promote changes for better in region

"We are grateful to Turkey for its firm and consistent position in support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity that were grossly violated by Russia. It is very important for Ukraine and its people to feel sincere and effective support of true friends and partners," President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports quoting Poroshenko as saying within the yesterday joint press conference with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
As to the report, Poroshenko noted that the parties had discussed the whole range of bilateral issues, analyzed the fulfillment of previously reached agreements and coordinated future actions.
Reportedly, the Ukrainian President also emphasized that the whole text of the Joint Declaration following the fifth session of the Ukraine-Turkey High Level Strategic Council «provides for the enhancement of strategic alliance between Ukraine and Turkey».
«I am confident that efficient and active development of Ukraine-Turkey cooperation, our strategic partnership will promote changes for the better in the entire region,» Poroshenko said.
As to the President, several other countries may join Ukrainian-Turkish cooperation soon.
As to the report, Poroshenko emphasized that the economic issue had been an important component of negotiations: «We have agreed to intensify negotiations on the conclusion of the Free Trade Area Agreement, as well as several other bilateral agreements including the Agreement on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Agreement on Mutual Protection of Investments».
Besides, the Ukrainian President offered the Turkish side to take part in the process of privatization in Ukraine.
In turn, the Turkish President said that his country fully supported the Ukrainian reforms implemented by Petro Poroshenko.
As to him, «political stability in Ukraine is a guarantee of security and stability in the Black Sea region» and Turkey will do everything possible to support this process. Besides, Erdoğan also told that his country would fulfill its promise to allocate US$10 million for humanitarian needs of Ukraine and urged the international community to increase support for Ukraine.
