01.12.2015 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
By the end of this year, nearly half of the worlds households, 46%, will be online, up against 30% just five years ago, UN Radio says referring to the annual Measuring the Information Society Report recently issued by the ITU (a world telecoms organization).
As to the Report, a total of 3.2 milliard people are now online.
It is to be admitted, the Measuring the Information Society Report is now widely seen as the most reliable and impartial analysis on the state of global telecommunications development.
As to the Report, although almost all of the worlds population is now covered by mobile-cellular service, the picture for online connectivity varies greatly, according to where you live.
It is to be admitted, Jaroslaw Ponder, ITU Coordinator for Europe, says that greater levels of access in the developing world in particular, were essential to meeting the newly-agreed Sustainable Development Goals.
«95% of the worlds population is now covered by mobile cellular and signal, however, while 3G network coverage grew from 45 to 69% of world population between 201115, 3G networks remain absent from many rural areas in low-income countries, especially in Africa,» he admits.
