Ukraine and Italy agree to intensify cooperation in agricultural sector

As of yesterday, the VIII meeting of the Ukrainian-Italian council for economic, industrial, and finance cooperation was held in Kyiv, Government Portal reports.
As to the report, within the meeting the two sides agreed to promote cooperation in agriculture and expressed interest in the search for new joint projects in the agrarian industry.
Reportedly, after the meeting, a Memorandum on cooperation in agriculture between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies of the Italian Republic was concluded.
As to the report, the Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Oleksiy Pavlenko told about the current state of bilateral cooperation, trade in agricultural products and implementation of pilot projects along certain directions, including Ukraine’s policy approximation towards the EU standards through the implementation of the Small Business Act (in the framework of further cooperation with the OECD).
As to Pavlenko, another significant line is the study of the experience of Italy in the formation and implementation of policies to support the economically active rural population that wish to start their own business in the field of rural tourism.
As to the report, the parties emphasized there is a potential to expand the presence of Italian business in the Ukrainian agrarian and industrial complex.
