Poroshenko: Odesa must become an example of reforms

As of today, while making a working trip to Odesa region, the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with Odesa RSA Head Mikheil Saakashvili, Deputy Prosecutor General David Sakvarelidze, Chief of Department of the Interior Ministry in Odesa region Giorgi Lortkipanidze and Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Vitali Kovalchuk, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, the parties coordinated positions on the future work in the region.
Reportedly, first of all, the Head of State emphasized the importance of struggle against corruption. «Today, it is a great challenge for the country. The entire country and the entire world are watching us right now,» the President stressed.
The Head of State noted that David Sakvarelidze was responsible for the public prosecution reform and selection of local prosecutors. «I count on you in this direction,» the President emphasized.
The President emphasized the importance of coordination of actions between the police, Security Service and Prosecutor’s Office for the efficient work aimed to overcome threats inside the country, especially given the fact that Odesa is a region with high risk of destabilization.
As to the report, the President also informed on the detention of the person who committed the terrorist attack near the Security Service building in Odesa on Sept 27. «Our joint efforts with the Security Service will lead to the stabilization of the situation. We must coordinate it very well. Odesa must be an example of efficient work of the law enforcement bodies,» Poroshenko emphasized.
Speaking of the implementation of reforms in other spheres, the Head of State noted that he was confident in Mikheil Saakashvili. «The pace of our actions is really efficient,» Petro Poroshenko said.
The President emphasized that the implementation of all tasks would be possible due to the joint and efficient cooperation of all branches of power. «We have everything necessary right now. Not only the entire country, but also the entire world are watching us. I am confident that we will manage to demonstrate determination and efficiency,» Poroshenko concluded.
