President: Agreements achieved with UAE will allow increasing of Ukrainian army defense capacity

The Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko calls his working visit to the United Arab Emirates successful and underlines the importance of contracts signed by the Ukrainian companies within the IDEX-2015, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
«Important negotiations have been held in the course of the IDEX-2015. Ukrainian enterprises-producers have signed several important contracts for tens of millions of dollars that will help us attract foreign currency in the country and, at the same time, provide us with necessary resources for the increase of opportunities of the Ukrainian army, acceleration of its modernization and involvement of the best producers in ensuring the defense strategy,» the President told.
As to the report, in the presence of the Head of State, Chief of the Ukrainian General Staff Viktor Muzhenko signed a document on military-technical cooperation between Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates. «It will significantly simplify and set out norms for our military-technical cooperation,» Poroshenko said.
Reportedly, the Head of State reminded that the first military products, particularly armored vehicles, had been received from the UAE and helped reinforce the Ukrainian army. «We have significantly broadened the nomenclature of our cooperation. We have agreed and determined the terms of supply of the necessary defense means for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. I am confident that today’s visit was very successful,» Poroshenko said.
Besides, the agreement was achieved that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates would make a visit to Ukraine shortly.
As to the report, the parties also discussed the issue of financial assistance from the UAE, the establishment of an investment fund that would simplify the UAE’s investment in Ukraine and the issue of cooperation in banking sphere.
