Cabinet can raise 2005/06 sugar and beet minimal prices up to UAH3.200/t and UAH220/t

20.09.2005 11:41 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — As to Oleksandr Baranovskiy, Minister of Agrarian Policy, Cabinet can grow 2005/06 MY sugar and sugar beet minimal prices correspondingly to UAH3.200/t (from UAH1.975/t) and UAH220/t (from UAH141.67/t). Minister declared corresponding Cabinet draft Decree has been already prepared. As earlier reported, Ministry of Agrarian Policy insists on sugar beet/sugar minimal prices rising. Apr Cabinet had established 2005/06 MY sugar beet minimal price UAH141.67/t (VAT excluded)/sugar minimal price UAH1.975/t (VAT excluded). Agrarians had reduced sugar beet sown areas (2005 crop) to 673.950 ha, down 58.500 ha (- 7.98%) against 2004 crop sown areas. Sugar plants had produced 1.790.000t sugar from 2004 crop sugar beet. Domestic sugar market annual capacity is 1.8–2 million tons.
