Ukraine and Poland have held a fantastic European Championship, with a unique atmosphere, and set new levels of the tournament standards. UEFA President Michel Platini said this at a final press conference in Kyiv on last week Saturday, according to Information Center Ukraine-2012.
Ukraine and Poland have held a great tournament with a unique atmosphere; EURO will leave an important legacy for the two countries both in the economic and infrastructural development, and in the development of football, the UEFA chief said, adding he is proud of Ukraine and Poland, which showed a high level of organization and set new standards of quality. According to him, the 2012 European Championship can boast of many achievements. In particular, a game attendance record was set at over 1.3 million viewers. And sometimes two-thirds of the fans at the stadiums represented the countries whose teams took off from the tournament. All this, Michel Platini said, shows the incredible interest in the championship, which allowed Ukraine and Poland to show themselves to the world. The countries have advertised themselves all over the world; they also have obtained a unique experience from the work of 6,000 volunteers and 8,000 reporters at the tournament, the European football leader said, also noting that the vast majority of the tournament visitors came to Ukraine and Poland for the first time. He added that EURO 2012 has become a subject of great pride for the hosts. The tournament was great, air traffic was organized very well, but the main thing was to see a great pride in the eyes of the Ukrainians and Poles who demonstrated that football exists in Eastern Europe, Michel Platini underscored.
