Baranovskiy recommends agrarians to refrain from 2004-crop grain remainders selling

As Oleksandr Baranovskiy, Minister
of Agrarian Policy, reported during «hot line» talks with journalists, he
forecasts next months domestic grain market pricing situation becoming
more advantageous and therefore recommends agricultural companies to
abstain from last year crop grain remainders selling.
«If you still have some grain piled up in your warehouses, I
would advice you not to sell it,» said Baranovskiy.
As to him, 2005-grain yield will be down against 2004 similar due to prolonged cold spring.
It is to be reminded, in 2004 wheat average yield was
3.17t/ha (up against 1.47t/ha in 2003).
Baranovskiy is sure 2005-grain cost price will be much up
against 2004 similar due to this season diesel fuel/mineral fertilizers high
prices.
As earlier reported, this year Apr 1 domestic market grain reserves (as
to State Statistics Committee data) were estimated 8.8 million tons, up
3.7 million tons (+73%) as of last year Apr 1 (5.064 million tons).
Ministry of Agrarian Policy considers this year grain crop will decline
to 37.4 million tons, down against 2004.
Domestic market food grain annual requirement is " 6–7 million
tons.
Mar white sugar export up 54.3%, to 5.700t
Agro Perspective (Kyiv) — Mar white sugar export (code: TN
VED 170199) has grown to 5.700t, up 2.020t (+54.2%) as of Feb, reported
Agrarika Ltd (bulletin Sugar), referring to Mar foods export-import
operative data.
As to report, this year Mar sugar export is down 33.300t (-
85.29%) against last year Mar 39.100t.
Since 2004/05 MY (Sep04-Mar05) beginning sugar export totaled
28.600t, much down against 2004 MY similar 230.600t.
As earlier reported, 2005 Jan white sugar export has fallen to
2.083t, down 3.065t
(-59.5%) against 2004 Dec.
Cabinet has established 2005/2006 MY (Sep 1/05-Sep 1/06) 1.79 million
tons domestic market sugar output quote (quote "A") instead of 1.8 million
tons.
2004/2005 MY domestic market sugar output quote was 1.8 million tons.
Domestic sugar market annual capacity is 1.8–2 million tons.
