Cabinet commissioned Ministries/Departments to organize meat reduced prices retail trade system

12.04.2005 09:00 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — As to Prime Minister Yuliya Tymoshenko Cabinet meeting results report, Cabinet has commissioned to State Committee on Material Reserve, Finance Ministry, Ministry of Economics as well as Company Ukrspozhivspilka to organize meat reduced prices retail trade system. As to Tymoshenko, in course of beef/pork pricing problem examining Cabinet has come to conclusion present meat retail prices, exceeding a few times wholesale prices, are much overrated. Tymoshenko considers that proves meat retail market is monopolized. Cabinet has commissioned State Reserve to purchase beef/pork ? UAH11–12/kg on special auctions. Ukrspozhivspilka will resale that meat through its retail trade network all over Ukraine. Tymoshenko said population will be able to purchase meat at retail price ? UAH16–17/kg. As earlier reported, Cabinet proposes VR creating meat reserve fund in order to carry out domestic market meat interventions for prices stabilization. Within Mar, beef (cattle) prices have grown 1.1–18.8% (up to UAH16.93–23.1/kg) against Feb on 21 regions markets; pork prices have risen 0.9–21.8% (up to UAH19–27/kg) as of Feb on 22 regions markets, while poultry prices are up 0.9.-24.9% against Feb (to UAH11.6–14.75/kg) on 25 regions markets.
