Mykola Azarov: The agreements on the FTA and political association with the EU are ready to be signed

14.11.2011 08:16 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — The agreements on free trade area and political association between Ukraine and European Union are ready to be signed. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov during a meeting with a group of German and Ukrainian parliamentarians and experts. «Just a few hours ago I received a call from Brussels, and have reported that actually the document on free trade area is ready,» Mykola Azarov has reported, having noted that one cannot say that this document are quite satisfied with the Ukrainian side. «We see both minuses, and pluses, but we believe that the advantages of a more meaningful, therefore we have made the decision that in historical perspective the free trade area would play a larger positive role in development of our economy and the European integration,» Mykola Azarov has underlined, having noted that it was preceded by extensive work with the negotiating process. Moreover, Mykola Azarov has reported that the agreement on political association with the EU is completely prepared for signing. As he said, there remained a principal item of the document on integration of Ukraine into European Union. «This is a question of our course, strategy of our development, and the document of political association with the EU - historically important» - the Head of the Ukrainian Government has stressed, having noted that, they being bear responsibility before the people, the Ukraine’s leadership underlines the importance of the principle of the contract item on the prospect of Ukraine joining the EU. «Ukraine commits itself in 10–15 years to meet all standards of EU in the legal system, economy, freedom, etc. Ukraine is located in the heart of Europe. All this - the obvious conditions that have the prospect of EU membership,» Mykola Azarov has underlined. The Prime Minister has addressed to the German members of parliament with the request to convey to the leadership of Germany, Ukraine’s position on the inclusion in the agreement on association an issue on integration of Ukraine. «We shall be grateful if you inform a position of Ukraine to the leadership of your country. We are ready for different compromise versions because we consider that the great work which we have led during the negotiation should be completed by signing of historically important document,» Mykola Azarov has emphasized. In addition, today, on November 11th, 2011, a roundtable with the participation of German and Ukrainian members of parliament and experts will host in Kyiv, on which it will be announced the establishment of the Club of Parliamentarians and Experts «Germany-Ukraine».
