Crimea ready to let Chinese investors to its agro-industrial complex

The Autonomous Republic of Crimea (southern Ukraine) is interested in attracting Chinese investment in the agro-industrial complex on the peninsula, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Kateryna Yurchenko, who led the autonomy’s delegation to the presentation of Crimea’s investment opportunities in China.
«Crimean leadership clearly sees its opportunities in the development of cooperation with China in the field of the agro-industrial sector,» Yurchenko said. She also does not exclude the participation of Chinese investors in the development of sanatorium-resort complex, which is a priority for the autonomy. «We will position the Crimea as a resort with an emphasis on treatment, so that it would be year-round, not just beach as now,» she said. According to Yurchenko, next year, the autonomy’s management intends to propose their Chinese counterparts to organize a China-Crimea forum in the Autonomous Republic, «so that Chinese businessmen would be able to come to the Crimea, see and begin implementation of specific investment projects.» Members of the Crimean delegation are taking part in the 3rd China Overseas Investment Fair, which opened in Beijing Tuesday. Several presentations are planned to continue at the Ukrainian Embassy in China on November 9. Meetings of the delegation at the Chinese Export-Import Bank are also scheduled. In addition to the capital city, the Crimean delegation will also visit Hainan Island, with which the Crimea has partnership links, as well as the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China.
