Within month Ukraine and Syria will discuss Ukrainian grains shipments conditions

Ukraine/Syria will discus within a month Ukrainian grains shipments conditions, reported Ukrainian First Vice Premier Oleksandr Turchynov after Ukrainian/Syrian Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation today meeting. “As of now, Ministry of Agrarian Policy examines Syrian proposals. I can affirm Ukraine will make large-scale shipments, – up to 1 mn MT. The main thing is, these shipments have long-term prospects,” admitted Turchynov. As to him, presently Ukrainian/Syrian experts are busy with elaboration of Ukrainian grains shipments to Syria logistics scheme/shipments volume. “I am convinced we will be ready to sign corresponding agreements very soon,” said First Vice Premier. However, Turchynov didn’t tell what kind of grains (food or feed) shipments were discussed. “We discuss not just a single issue, – there is an entire complex of necessities. Grains specifications are possible to be determined already after particular contracts signing,” admitted Turchynov. He made it known elaboration of contracts for Ukrainian grains shipments to Syria will go on within framework of Memorandum of Mutual Understanding signed today between Ukrainian State-owned Company TASKO-Export and Syrian Arab Republic Grains General Directorate. It is to be reminded, Syrian Finance Minister Mohammed Hussein within Ukrainian/Syrian Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation today meeting declared Syria is interested in Ukrainian feed grains shipments. “We know Ukraine is grains big producer. This year Syria has been affected by drought, therefore we face country grains consumption satisfaction problems,” said Hussein.
