Ukrainian rape hits new record

05.09.2008 14:38 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — Ukrainian Aug 2008 rape export rates have broken country historic record registered in Aug 2007 up to Ukrainian external trade results (302,000 MT).

As to preliminary data, Ukrainian Aug 2008 rape export has reached 501,600 MT. It is to be admitted, Jul 2008 rape export equaled to 132,000 MT.

Reportedly, Aug 2008 rape export activation was preceded by domestic market active rape purchasing with purchase prices being much down against last year. This year purchase prices decline is to be explained with offer significant growth (current time period prices additional decline is to be explained also with seasonality factor).

It is to be admitted, this year agrarians rape production profitability is expected to be much down against last year record high (120% against last year 300%). However, rape remains most marginal agricultural crop within this year.

“I think this arithmetic is very simple: agricultural producers may easily calculate how much can they earn when UAH2,600 per MT rape sale price is taken into account,” declared Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Yuriy Luzan.
