12.10.2018 23:18 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of this week, the Belarus agrarians have harvested over 50% of their total sugar beets; thus, the agrarians have harvested the sugar beet at 51,000 ha (total area to be harvested at is 100,000 ha),
Ukrainian National Association of Sugar Producers says referring to the Belarus Segodnia report.
As to the report, this year the Belarus sugar beets’ average yield is 442 metric centners per ha (down against 460 metric centners per ha within 2016/down against 493 metric centners per ha within 2017).
However, the experts say the Belarus agrarians usually are harvesting their sugar beet firstly at the worst areas, so the sugar beets’ average yield is certain to have boosted until this harvesting campaign end.
As to the report, within 2017 the Belarus agrarians harvested in total 4.9 million tons sugar beets; this year, however, the Belarus total sugar beets’ harvest is expected to be down 200,000300,000 tons against 2017 due to the drought. However, the experts say this year Belarus can receive around 590,000 tons sugar - about the same sugar amount as within 2017 thanks to the sugar beets’ high sugar content. Thus, 2017 sugar content was 15.81%, while now the sugar content equals to 16.56%.
