Sheremeta: Berry producers are to unite into cooperatives to be more competitive

As of this week, while speaking within the VII-th International Ukrainian Forum ‘Ukrainian High Heathberry and Other Berries within 2018. Berry Cooperatives’, Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Viktor Sheremeta said that now it is advantageous for the Ukrainian fruits/berries producers to get united into agricultural service cooperatives (SOCs), since these cooperatives enable them to use the State-support and significantly develop their business, Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reports.
As to Sheremeta, the Government support program stipulates co-financing of the agricultural service cooperatives within this year, compensating for 70% of the equipment they purchase (both Ukrainian and foreign).
It is to be admitted, the Forum has been attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, Zhytomyr Regional State Administration, Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences, business representatives and profile branches’ experts.
«As of now, Ukrainian berries’ output is gradually boosting, thus making it necessary to keep and process much more berries. Thus, creating of the agricultural service cooperatives will enable producers not only to preserve their berries’ harvests, but also to sell them at advantageous prices and expand the range of their value added berry products. In its turn, the State supports the peasant entrepreneurs who united into the cooperatives, by compensating for 70% of the equipment the cooperatives purchase,» he emphasized.
