Turkmenistan sugar beet harvesting nears its end

As of now, within Turkmenistan, Balkan and Maryland regions’ agrarians are nearing their sugar beet harvesting end; the sugar beet had been sown within Jun 2017 at the areas where the wheat had been harvested, Ukrainian National Association of Sugar Producers says referring to the ‘Turkmenistan: Golden Age’ report.
It is to be admitted, the sugar beet sown areas remain unchanged — what is taken into account when concluding contracts with the land tenants for the sugar beet cultivation. The sugar beet customer is the Turkmenistan State Association of Food Industry, which includes, among others, also the JSC Marishheker.
As to the report, the agrarians started the sugar beet harvesting still within last year Oct, with the sugar beet processing being simultaneously conducted at the JSC Marishheker. It is to be admitted, the JSC Marishheker produces 11,000 tons sugar yearly; also, the JSC Marishheker provides local agrarians with the sugar beet seeds and transport to assure the sugar beet harvest bringing to the reception stations.
Reportedly, the Turkmenistan agrarians use suagr beet highly productive varieties, such as of Romanovskaya-47 and Portland. These varieties have proven themselves well under the local climate and are resistant to pests and diseases.
As of now, the sugar beet is grown within Turkmenistan at the 17,900 ha water-irrigated areas, with sugar beet yearly crop usually totaling about 220,000 and up tons.
