Kistion: Ukrainian final draft Energy Strategy until 2035 to be introduced within shortest possible time

As of yesterday, within the meeting of the Steering Committee chaired by Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister Volodymyr Kistion, the Ukrainian draft Energy Strategy until 2035 was approved, Government Portal reports.
As to the report, while speaking within the meeting, Kistion said that within the context of the European integration course it is essential to update approaches regarding formation of energy policy which must align with European principles and practices.
«Our country has undertaken a number of international commitments. In particular, it is vitally important to implement the Third Energy Package which envisages the creation of a full natural gas markets, electric energy, establishment of market conditions concerning coal trade,» Kistion admitted.
As to the report, he placed an special emphasis to the fact that due to the global tendencies it is necessary to boost the proportion of green energy.
Besides, he also reminded the attendees that the most important and most ambitious goal of the Government is achievement of energy independence of Ukraine, and this should be captured in the text of the Strategy.
Thus, following the meeting, the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry was commissioned to ensure the approval of the Ukrainian draft Energy Strategy by all relevant central executive authorities.
«The Ukrainian draft Energy Strategy until 2035 will be presented within the coming weeks at the corresponding Committee of the Verkhovna Rada. After the final approval of the project by all relevant central executive authorities it will be submitted for the Government consideration,» Kistion summed up.
