06.05.2016 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Ahead of the first-ever World Humanitarian Summit to be held in Turkey later this month, the UN Humanitarian Coordinators made a joint statement urging the global leaders to find a solution to end the suffering that affects millions of people in the Middle East and North Africa, UN Radio reports.
As to the statement, widespread violence, conflict and extremism in countries in the Middle East and North Africa have generated «immense humanitarian needs», with
fifty-five million people there being in need of humanitarian assistance just to survive, and the impact also being felt beyond the region.
«We have a shared responsibility to end this tragedy and preserve peoples basic dignity. Our humanity demands no less,» the Coordinators say.
Besides, the Coordinators called on world leaders to attend the Summit and «make it a success.»
They also urged leaders to «assume their responsibility» to find political solutions to end the bloodshed and prevent further suffering.
