Poroshenko hopes Verkhovna Rada has spirit enough to review Law on Foreign Currency Loan Restructuring
13.07.2015 10:14 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
On Monday, 13 July, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with U. S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker in the framework of his visit to Washington.
The sides discussed the most topical issues of economic cooperation between the two countries.According to the interlocutors, the U.S.-Ukraine Business Forum in Washington is an important sign of the U. S. Government’s support for Ukraine, which demonstrates the need, importance and great prospects of cooperation with Ukraine and business in Ukraine.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Penny Pritzker have discussed a specific step-by-step plan of cooperation between Ukraine and the USA in the nearest future.
Injection of gas in storage - critical issue for Ukraine
Ukraine continues negotiations with international donors to finance pumping gas into storage for the next heating season.
Meanwhile, the search for alternative sources of heating supply continues. In particular, Kharkiv last year saved about 100 million cubic meters of gas through the construction of boilers that run on alternative fuels. The same amount of work is planned for the current year too.
Poroshenko hopes Verkhovna Rada has spirit enough to review Law on Foreign Currency Loan Restructuring
The Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko hopes that the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament) will review the Resolution on the Law on Foreign Currency Loan Restructuring, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports referring to Poroshenko interview to 1 + 1 TV Channel.
«I hope that there will be enough strong forces in the Verkhovna Rada to put right the wrongs of the Parliament’s past, mildly speaking. If the political spirit of the Verkhovna Rada is not enough, I will protect Ukraine,» he said.
As to the President, he has not received the Law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada yet for signing. As to the him, the Law shall be considered by the Procedural Committee of the Verkhovna Rada since many MPs have filed Statements indicating that their voting cards were used in their absence.
As to the report, Poroshenko emphasized that the MPs have taken such decision solely for populist reasons. "They wanted to please people by making an absolutely irresponsible decision. The feedback of people whose applause they were expecting was exactly the opposite and read: «You are irresponsible, you are the populists, you pushed the country into the abyss,» the President said adding that to fulfill at least first provisions of this Law, the country has to raise US$710 milliard somewhere - what exceeds the Ukrainian gold and foreign-exchange reserves.
As to the President, to implement this Law means to leave the country without a banking system whatsoever as banks do not have such funs, and as a matter of fact, to plunge the country into chaos.
