Russia to charge Ukraine US$287.15 for gas in third quarter and US$262.50 in fourth

The price of Russian gas for Ukraine without a discount in the third quarter will amount to $287.15 per 1,000 cubic meters, while in the fourth quarter it will be US$262.5 per 1,000 cubic meters, UNIAN says referring to the Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom Alexander Medvedev report at the press conference in Moscow on Tues.
«The issue of the discount is now being discussed,» Medvedev said.
«The discount is granted at the expense of the non-use of export duties, which may not be used ‘in whole or in part,’» he said.
As to Medvedev, this issue doesn’t depend on Gazprom, although he has «heard about some progress.»
As to earlier report, from this year May 1 Ukraine had stopped importing natural gas from Hungary and almost halved its purchases in Slovakia, having compensated for them with the necessary volumes of supplies from Russia. However, from this year Jun 4 gas imports from Hungary were once again resumed.
It is to be reminded, on this year Apr 1, Naftogaz and Gazprom had signed a three-month agreement for the supply of Russian gas to Ukraine at a price of US$248 per 1,000 cubic meters.
As to the Ukrainian Deputy Energy Minister Ighor Didenko, the European price of gas for Ukraine today is almost the same as the one Russia charges.
