Poroshenko: Tariffs for population must be clear and fair

While sharing a TV interview on Thurs, the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko instructed to conduct transparent verification of reasons for increasing tariffs for population, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
«As President, I cannot stay aside of the problems that currently concern the vast majority of citizens. Our citizens must receive an absolutely clear and transparent answer. Poor people must understand that nothing endangers their financial state. They should have clear instructions what to do to be sure that not a single extra kopeck is spent,» the President said.
As to the report, Poroshenko also noted the importance of subsidies.
«Major gas payments will start in September and October. Until then we must sort things out, prepare subsidies. The authorities must make the mechanism for receiving subsidies automatic. We have money for subsidies, inter alia, at the cost of those who produces oil and at the cost of commercial structures,» he noted.
The Head of State informed on his instruction to verify justification of tariffs.
«For the verification to be fully transparent, for us to invite world-famous trustworthy audit companies, form the experience of foreign states and for tariffs to be flexible. If the gas price goes down, and now it is going down, tariffs should also have an opportunity to go down,» the President emphasized.
The President believes that tariffs must be versatile depending on market conditions and energy efficiency measures. «We have three months left. This task must be fulfilled by September. Everyone must be sure that everything is clear and fair,» Poroshenko said.
