Poroshenko: Government is making resolute steps to stabilize hryvnia

The Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has noted that the government was making resolute steps to stabilize hryvnia, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
«We are making decisive steps to allocate additional resources and return the rate to the mark of UAH 20–22. I believe that we should prevent panic in the exchange offices and banks,» the President noted within his conversation with media in Vinnytsia.
Poroshenko admitted that forces interested in destabilization of the situation on the eve of the IMF’s decision were using the exchange rate’s fluctuations to instigate the public.
«The National Bank and the Cabinet of Ministers, as governmental bodies that determine the economic and exchange rate policy, have coordinated a joint plan on the stabilization of the exchange rate,» he said.
As to Poroshenko, a series of decisions would be submitted for consideration by Verkhovna Rada following the meeting with deputies and members of the Government.
«The first positive signal for the market should be a positive voting by Verkhovna Rada for the laws that will pave the way for the IMF’s decision in support of Ukraine,» the President noted.
In meanwhile, the Head of State is confident that the IMF would make a positive decision on expanding the funding for Ukraine and the first tranche would have been received by the end of March. This money will allow replenishing the reserves of the National Bank, gradually stabilizing the rate of hryvnia and open the way to international credits that will give a boost to the economic growth.
