Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation with Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande

As of yesterday, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko held a phone conversation with
Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel and President of France Francois Hollande, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande expressed concern over the escalation of the situation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions and violation of the Minsk agreements. They also expressed condolences over the tragedy in Mariupol when 30 civilians had been killed, including a five-year-old boy, and 95 had been wounded. «It is a horrible tragedy and a crime against humanity,» Poroshenko admitted.
Reportedly, Poroshenko emphasized that Ukraine would insist on the recognition of DPR as terrorist organization, for all the victims were civilians and among the destroyed objects were houses, schools, a kindergarten, a drug store, shops and markets.
Besides, the Ukrainian President also focused attention on the respective statements of the leaders of the EU, USA, UN and NATO who blame the escalation of the conflict by militants supported by Russia. He also mentioned the statement of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission, which proves that the shelling of Mariupol had been carried out from the territory controlled by DPR. He also expressed surprise over the absence of Russia’s official condemnation of the given terrorist attack.
As to the report, the parties agreed that further steps on de-escalation must include immediate bilateral ceasefire, holding of session of the Trilateral Contact Group, liberation of hostages, withdrawal of troops and heavy armament, as well as pullback to the delimitation line.
Reportedly, Poroshenko also coordinated further actions with Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande regarding the next session of the EU Council at the level of Foreign Ministers aimed at more resolute steps by the EU in case of the absence of progress in de-escalation. The parties hope that the meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group would be held prior to the given session planned for January 29.
