President discussed situation in Donbas with UN Under-Secretary-General

As of yesterday, at the meeting with UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman in Kyiv, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko discussed the situation in the Donbas, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, within the meeting the Head of State has drawn attention to the increasingly complicated humanitarian situation in the occupied territories.
Reportedly, Poroshenko noted that Ukraine kept on sending humanitarian assistance, but the majority of it was being stolen by militants. The Head of State informed that he had instructed the Government to immediately increase the number of humanitarian columns to deliver food and goods of prime necessity to the Donbas. Still, everything should be done to prevent the seizure of the given assistance by militants. The President admitted that direct contacts had been established with schools, kindergartens and homes for elderly people in order to directly convey the assistance to them. Local people are ready to facilitate door-to-door delivery of the humanitarian cargo.
«I have instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Social Policy to involve any international humanitarian assistance, including the mechanisms of the Red Cross and other organizations, in order to ensure transparent and open distribution of the humanitarian aid,» the Head of State said.
As to the President, there is some progress in the development of the situation in the Donbas. The number of shellings has been reduced. However, the President has stated the absence of progress in the withdrawal of Russian troops, border closure and liberation of hostages. Ukraine has submitted a list of citizens captured in the occupied territories, 20 of them are imprisoned in Russia. MP, pilot Nadiya Savchenko is among them.
Reportedly, the President also drew attention to the necessity of fulfilling the item of the Minsk agreements on the restoration of the Ukrainian TV channels’ broadcast.
