Ukrainian President expressed gratitude to Sweden for the ratification of the Association Agreement

As of yesterday, President of Ukraine has held a meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden Margot Wallström, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, the Ukrainian Head of State is grateful to the people of Sweden for the support and solidarity with Ukrainians. He called the visit of Mrs. Wallström «very symbolic», as the Swedish Parliament had ratified the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU that day. «This event demonstrates solidarity and support from Sweden, which is a traditional defense lawyer of Ukraine in the European Union. Your country has been doing a lot to enhance and accelerate the European integration of Ukraine,» the President emphasized.
The President thanked Mrs. Wallström for her personal role in supporting the Ukrainian independence and territorial integrity. He also noted Sweden’s position of support to the Peace plan on the resolution of the situation in the Donbas.
The Swedish Foreign Minister informed that her country would continue providing support for Ukraine. In particular, Sweden would send humanitarian assistance to the Donbas regions affected by the actions of militants. Margot Wallström assured that Sweden would keep on defending the interests of Ukraine and assisting in the attraction of financial, political and diplomatic aid.
Reportedly, while addressing the Ukrainian Head of State, the Swedish Foreign Minister emphasized Ukraine had much to be done on the way of reforms, but Ukrainians would be grateful for the efforts aimed at establishing the rule of law and ensuring the energy efficiency, environmental protection and economic reforms. She also mentioned the importance of fighting against corruption.
