New plan to aid swift recovery in Ebola-affected countries

28.10.2014 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — A new plan to support national response efforts to fight the Ebola virus disease has been developed by the United Nations and its international partners, UN Radio says referring to the World Health Organization (WHO) report. As to the report, the plan’s framework was designed in consultation with the governments of Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone, the three countries worst hit by the epidemic. Reportedly, close to 5000 people have already died from the disease in West Africa. In meanwhile, the UN Mission for Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER) says the framework sets out the step-by-step process on how to assist the West African countries to become Ebola-free. The immediate objective of the plan is to treat 70 per cent of Ebola cases by 1 December of this year, and to carry out 70 per cent of burials safely and respectfully by trained teams. It is to be admitted, the Head of the UNMEER, Anthony Banbury, also visited health facilities under construction to see first-hand how efforts to stop Ebola are progressing. He also discussed with partners plans to establish a logistical hub along the Guinean and Liberian border.
