President: Holding of WEF regional meeting in Kyiv is acknowledgement of Ukraine's progress

"Holding of WEF regional meeting in Kyiv is an acknowledgment of Ukraine’s progress achieved in recent years," the President stressed while speaking at the Regional meeting of the World Economic Forum in Kyiv, President Viktor Yanukovych Press Office reports.
«This event is held in Ukraine for the first time. It is recognition of our progress,» the Head of State said.
According to the President, globalization has become an inevitable and logically defined process in which the winner is one who has an active position.
«Ukraine learns to be a country that creates its history independently,» Viktor Yanukovych emphasized.
According to the Head of State, a series of panel discussions and seminars involving the best world and national experts have been held in order to elaborate the scenarios of the future of Ukraine. «We must demonstrate the ability to forecast our own future in the context of global development,» he said.
«Ukraine builds the vision of its future in the context of changes taking place in the global scale,» the President stressed.
«I hope that today’s meeting will bring new recommendations on the improvement of national competitiveness, international image, energy security and business environment of Ukraine. Also, I expect the proposals on the new agenda of the reforms and the institutional development of our state,» Viktor Yanukovych noted.
The President expressed confidence that «mini-Davos» in Kyiv would be held at the high level and the participation of representatives of Ukrainian and world political and business elite, scientists and prominent public figures in the meeting would ensure open and fruitful discussion on the determination of strategic vectors of state development and the place of Ukraine in the world.
