Gryshchenko promised to provide Government's support to UNCTAD initiatives

While making an official working visit to Geneva, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko has met with Secretary General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Mukhisa Kituyi, Government Portal reports.
During the meeting they discussed the results of bilateral cooperation in the framework of the project on voluntary peer review of competition law and policy in Ukraine, which was carried out by UNCTAD experts at the request of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine.
Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine informed the Secretary General of UNCTAD that experts’ advices provided under review were used to develop a long-term National Program for Competition Development in Ukraine for 2014–2024, which was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on August 21, 2013. He stressed that the findings and recommendations regarding antimonopoly legislation of Ukraine as well as a detailed analysis of the legal and institutional framework implemented within the framework of the review are extremely important for Ukraine during the final stage of the preparation process for the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
Leadership of UNCTAD positively assessed the bilateral cooperation, particularly in the context of improving and developing the competitive environment. Secretary-General of UNCTAD stressed ample opportunities for further cooperation in the field of innovation and technological advances. Mukhisa Kituyi noted that UNCTAD has become a platform to discuss the program of action for development after 2015 (after reaching the Millennium Development Goals). In this context, he expressed interest in cooperation with Ukraine in the field of development because, in his words, the sequence policy of our country is the embodiment of the idea: human face of development.
Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine welcomed the Secretary-General of UNCTAD on his appointment on September 1, 2013 and invited Mukhisa Kituyi to visit Ukraine.
