It is to be admitted, as of last few years, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has been supporting the formulation of the projects that will build resilience and mitigate the effects of climate change in the three countries.
«FAO and the GCF have forged a strong and strategic partnership to bring transformational climate solutions and help countries build resilience in response to climate change impacts,» Maria Helena Semedo, FAO Deputy Director-General, Climate and Natural Resources, admitted while commenting on the Fund initiative.
In meanwhile, GCF Executive Director Yannick Glemarec stressed the Fund had halved the time taken to advance projects from approval to disbursement within its first four years of operation and FAO played a crucial role in turning drawing board ideas into innovative action
«GCF is committed to supporting adaptation and mitigation initiatives with greater speed and scale, given the burgeoning demand for climate finance,» Glemarec said.
It is to be admitted, FAO also actively supports countries to enhance their planning and capacities for climate change-related investments under the GCF Readiness and Preparatory Support Programme.
It is to be noted, GCF is a unique global platform that is responding to climate change by investing into the low-emission and climate resilient development.
