UN: Data hub opens to help more people within crisis

26.12.2017 10:14 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — As of last week, while speaking at the Centre for Humanitarian Data (the Hague) ceremonial opening, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said this cutting-edge humanitarian aid hub is a way to harness technology to better respond to people within crisis, UN Radio reports. It is to be admitted, the Centre for Humanitarian Data is the palce where data and aid experts will work together to assess the needs of affected people and plan how to respond more quickly. As to the report, Guterres said that there are 136 million vulnerable people around the world, and the UN and its partners aim to reach more than 90 million of the most needy. «The challenge is to connect innovation and harness it to help these millions of vulnerable people. And that is exactly what brings us here today, and putting data and technology to work for people in crisis. And that is the promise of the Centre for Humanitarian Data: to get people the support they need more quickly, more efficiently, by harnessing the power of data,» he stressed. As to the report, the Centre will manage the Humanitarian Data Exchange, an open platform for accessing, sharing and using information from hundreds of organizations and dozens of humanitarian emergencies.
