Ukrainian early year sunseeds market prices have remained practically unchanged as of previous. Within examined period sunseeds demand prices were UAH950-1.050/t (CPT plant). Sunseeds export shipments got activated.

UKRAINIAN GRAIN MARKET
After New Year holidays ending food wheat market activity resumed. In order to attract new wheat lots/replenish reserves some flour millers have slightly raised purchase prices. Wheat demand on part export-orientated companies, however, remained low; exporters purchase policy hasn’t changed much as of previous week.

According to the preliminary data of the State Statistic Committee of Ukraine, the Ukrainian herd of cows was about 3,766.5 ths heads on 01 January 2006 that was 4.7% less than year ago. At thus the herd of cows owned by agricultural enterprises (large industrial farms/former collective farms) reduced by 9% down to 864.3 ths heads, and the herd of cows of the economies of population declined by 3.4% down to 2,902.2 ths heads. It should be noted, that even such significant reduction of the herd of cows did not hinder the Ukrainian statisticians to declare that last year the Ukrainian milk output was even slightly higher than in 2004.

Within last week Ukrainian market sunseeds purchase prices were boosting up, mainly due to sunoil prices growing/domestic market sunseeds low supply. Last week sunoil producers purchase prices ranged within » UAH1.550-1.620/t, CPT; in rare cases sale prices were correspondingly UAH1.600-1.650/t (EXW).

Harvesting campaign has started in Ukraine. Traditionally, the Crimea is the first region to have begun harvesting. Nowadays weather conditions, remarkable for abundant rains/moderate temperature, contribute to new grain crop (esp. wheat) forecasts bettering. Barley crops have most suffered from draft, esp. in southern regions, - while all other regions estimate their barley sown areas as satisfactory/good.
