Ukrainian dairy market

Within reporting week prices on Ukrainian domestic/export dairy products’ markets remained mainly unchanged against previous week. Experts admit within this week Ukrainian domestic/export dairy products’ markets prices were, as earlier, much pressed by global market tendencies. It is to be mentioned, presently Ukrainian producers don’t see any definite prospects for their ready products’ sales — so within this week they had to accept purchasers’ current offers, with purchasers’ activity being very low (due to firstly summer vacations’ period and secondly expectations for prices’ further decline). As earlier, within this week some Ukrainian producers continued restraining their ready products’ sale rates (in order to transfer most sales upon winter period) and switching upon export market sales.
In meanwhile, within this week Ukrainian domestic market SMP prices were UAH40,5–43 per kg (unchanged against previous week/up 3.25% as of last month similar); export market SMP prices, however, declined to US$1,500–1,600 per MT (down 1.59% against previous week/down 1.74% against previous month similar). Experts admit within this week Ukrainian domestic market SMP prices didn’t start going down even despite export market SMP prices’ decline — in fact, Ukrainian producers have succeeded to retain their domestic market SMP prices unchanged thanks to export market high sale rates. It is to be admitted, within this week domestic market SMP prices were additionally supported by seasonality factor. Besides, experts admit domestic market SMP prices were prevented from fall also by fact of Ukrainian SMP producers having already approached point of their output make-out.
This
week Ukrainian home market WMP prices remained UAH48–52 per kg (unchanged as of last week); external market WMP prices were US$2,100–2,250 per MT (same as within previous week). As previously, within this week Ukrainian external market WMP high sale rates supported country home/external markets’ prices. However, it is to be admitted, within this week Ukrainian home market WMP purchasers’ activity remained weak.
As of this week, Ukrainian domestic market block butter (72.5% fat, DSTU) prices have grown to UAH45–47 per kg (up 1.10% against previous week/up 9.69% as of last month similar); export market block butter (72.5% fat, DSTU) prices have declined to US$2,350–2,500 per MT (down 2.02% as of last week/up 2.65% against previous month similar). Experts admit within this week Ukrainian domestic market butter prices have grown thanks to export market high sale rates and due to country producers having had started putting their butter into winter storage.
As of this week, Ukrainian domestic market cheese prices were UAH75–82 per kg (unchanged against previous week/up 3.63% as of last month similar); export market prices ranged within US$3,200–4,000 per MT (same as of last week/down 2.04% as of last month similar). As previously, this week Ukrainian domestic/export markets’ cheese demand remained weak.Within reporting week Ukrainian export market cheese prices continued to experience high completion from EU countries, as earlier. However, on some export markets (in part., in Middle Asia countries) cheese spreads’ competition has also grown — what has made a negative impact on Ukrainian cheese demand.
As of this week, Ukrainian domestic market casein prices were UAH100–118 per kg (unchanged against previous week/up 6.36% as of last month similar); export market prices, however, remained US$4,500–4,700 per MT (same as within previous week). Experts say within this week Ukrainian domestic/export markets’ casein prices were supported mainly by domestic raw milk output gradual seasonal decline (even despite export market low sale rates).
As of this week, Ukrainian domestic market demineralized whey prices have declined to UAH10,50–11,00 per kg (down 3.15% against previous week/down 7.33% as of last month similar); export market prices have lowered to US$400–450 per MT (down 1.73% against previous week/down 6.08% against previous month similar). Besides, this week Ukrainian domestic market classic whey prices have fallen to UAH10,50–11,00 per kg (down 4.44% against previous week/down 1.15% as of last month similar); export market prices have sagged to US$390–405 per MT (down 1.24% against previous week/down 1.70% as of last month similar). Experts admit prices’ decline on Ukrainian domestic/export markets has been caused mainly by demand slackening. It is to be mentioned, within this week Ukrainian producers’ unsold whey reserves were very high, so producers had to agree even for low sale prices.
As of this week, Ukrainian inner market GOST canned milk prices have slightly grown against previous week — to UAH11,8–14,2 per can (380 gr).
