Ukrainian dairy market

As of this week, prices on Ukrainian domestic/export dairy products’ markets were mainly going down. On domestic market, dairy products’ prices were pressed, as earlier, by low demand (caused by population low paying capacity and consumption decline within ATO area).
On export market, competition continued growing thus making Ukrainian dairy products’ sales still more complicated. However, despite of that, many Ukrainian producers have succeeded to enlarge their export sales’ geography. Besides, within this week some dairy products’ shipments to Crimea remained rather high.
Thus, within this week Ukrainian domestic market SMP prices have declined to UAH39–41,5 per kg (down 0.62% against previous week/down 6.12% as of last month similar); export market SMP prices ranged within US$1,550–1,600 per MT (down 0.32% against previous week e as within previous week/up 2.11% as of last month similar). As earlier, within this week Ukrainian domestic/export SMP markets remained pressed by seasonality factor and domestic SMP high output. Experts admit within this week Ukrainian SMP producers kept on hoping for purchasers’ activity boost on country domestic/export markets - but that is hardly possible to take place in short time: domestic market activity will remain low due to final purchasers’ paying capacity worsening, while export market will remain dominated by high competition. Besides, the month of Ramadan has already begun, what slackens Muslim countries’ population purchasing activity.
Besides, this week Ukrainian home market WMP prices have sagged to UAH44–50 per kg (down 1.05% against previous week); external market WMP prices have lowed to US$2,100–2,250 per MT (down 4.40% as of last week). It is to be admitted, within this week Ukrainian home/external markets’ WMP sales remained rather low, as earlier. Ukrainian producers’ unsold WMP reserves continued growing up.
As of this week, within reporting week Ukrainian domestic market block butter (72.5% fat, DSTU) prices remained UAH40–42 per kg (unchanged against previous week/down 5.88% as of previous month similar); export market block butter (72.5% fat, DSTU) prices, however, have grown to US$2,350–2,600 per MT (up 10.00% against previous week/up 7.61% as of last month similar). It is to be mentioned, within this week Ukrainian domestic market butter demand/offer balance remained unchanged against previous week. In meanwhile, market operators admit Ukrainian export market butter purchasers’ activity has recently started gradually growing up.
This week Ukrainian domestic market casein prices have slackened to UAH100–105 per kg (down 2.38% against previous week/down 9.29% as of last month similar); export market prices ranged within US$4,200–4,400 per MT (unchanged against previous week/down 7.40% as of last month similar). As of this week, Ukrainian export market casein purchasers’ activity remained slack, so Ukrainian casein producers continued shipping their ready products mainly to their warehouses in anticipation for EU demand resumption.
This week Ukrainian domestic market cheese prices ranged within UAH72–78 per kg (unchanged against previous week/up 1.69% as of last month similar); export market prices were US$3,400–4,000 per MT (unchanged as of last week). As of this week, Ukrainian domestic/export markets’ cheese demand remained unchanged against previous week.
Experts admit within this week Ukrainian low quality cheese/cheese products’ output was going up - what has resulted in demineralized whey output corresponding growth, with unsold demineralized whey getting accumulated on domestic warehouses due to slack sales. However, at same time, country domestic classic whey unsold reserves remained low - what has finally led to a paradoxical situation: domestic market demineralized whey prices were down against classical whey. Thus, within this week Ukrainian domestic market demineralized whey prices have declined to UAH10,70–11,50 per kg (down 8.26% against previous week/down 10.84% as of last month similar); export market prices have sagged to US$435–450 per MT (down 5.35% as of last week/down 7.21% as of previous month similar). Simultaneously, within this week Ukrainian domestic market classic whey prices were UAH11,00–11,50 per kg (up 7.14% against previous week/down 10.43% as of last month similar); export market prices ranged within US$400–410 per MT (same as of last week/down 0.46% as of last month similar).
In meanwhile, this week Ukrainian inner market GOST canned milk prices ranged within UAH11,8–14,0 per can (380 gr), same as of last week.
