Ukrainian dairy market

Within this week dairy products’ prices on Ukrainian domestic/export markets were going down due to domestic dairy products’ output boost (caused by seasonality factor) and global market prices’ tendency. As of this week, purchasers’ activity on Ukrainian domestic/export markets remained mainly stably low. In meanwhile, within this week Ukrainian dairy products’ producers were gradually boosting their domestic market offer — what, in turn, has pressed domestic market prices. Domestic market dairy products’ offer growth has been caused by dairy products’ output boost and shortening of export contracts’ number (caused by global market prices’ decline and corresponding Ukraine/EU competition growth). Besides, some exporters admit within this week many foreign purchasers actively tried to break their earlier concluded contracts in order to make exporters decline their export sale prices. It is to be admitted, within this week dairy products’ prices on Ukrainian domestic/export markets whey prevented from further lowering by domestic resources’ expensiveness. However, even despite resources’ expensiveness, Ukrainian domestic market dairy products’ prices is certain to continue going down due to Ukrainian domestic/export markets’ offer growth and export market low prices.
As of this week, Ukrainian domestic market SMP prices have declined to UAH44–46 per kg (down 2.17% as of last week/up 5.56% as of last month similar); export market SMP prices have sagged to US$1,500–1,600 per MT (down 1.59% as of last week/down 5.49% as of last month similar). Experts admit within this week Ukrainian export markets’ SMP low demand/sale prices were stimulating Ukrainian producers to switch, as earlier, upon domestic market. Besides, experts say Ukrainian domestic/export markets’ SMP prices were prevented from further slackening due to export contracts’ SMP big lots (earlier concluded up to high sale prices). It is to be admitted, Ukrainian domestic market SMP prices were additionally prevented from further lowing due to domestic resources’ expensiveness.
This week Ukrainian domestic market WMP prices have lowed to UAH48–51 per kg (down 4.81% as of last week); export market WMP prices have dropped to US$2,300–2,450 per MT (down 1.04% against last week). Within this week Ukrainian WMP output was high, with domestic/export markets’ WMP sale rates having grown.
As of this week, Ukrainian domestic market block butter (72.5% fat, DSTU) prices have declined to UAH45–46,5 per kg (down 2.66% against previous week/down 5.96% as of last month similar); export market block butter (72.5% fat, DSTU) prices have dropped to US$2,300–2,400 per MT (down 0.42% against previous week/down 4.35% against previous week).
It is to be admitted, within this week Ukrainian domestic/export markets’ butter prices remained pressed down by domestic/export markets’ offer growth (caused by seasonality factor) and domestic market slack demand. Experts admit export market sale rates remained slack, but they helped to somewhat improve domestic market situation. As of this week, Ukrainian domestic market cheese prices ranged within UAH68–76 per kg (unchanged as of previous week); export market prices remained were US$3,400–4,000 per MT (same as within previous week). As earlier, within reporting week Ukrainian domestic/export markets’ cheese demand remained low. Experts mention within this week Ukrainian producers, as earlier, experienced difficulties in making export sales due to global market high competition. Within this week Ukrainian producers tried to boost their sale prices on country domestic market — but they couldn’t boost them much due to Ukrainian population low paying capacity and domestic market being glutted with cheap foreign cheeses.
As of this week, Ukrainian domestic market casein prices remained UAH119–124 per kg (unchanged against previous week/down 0.82% against last month similar); export market prices ranged within US$4,900–5,000 per MT (same as within previous week/down 4.81% as of last month similar). Experts admit within this week Ukrainian domestic/export markets’ casein prices remained pushed down by domestic/export markets’ offer growth and export market slack sale rates. However, at same time, decline of Ukrainian domestic/export markets’ casein prices was restricted by domestic resources’ expensiveness.
As of this week, Ukrainian domestic market demineralized whey prices ranged within UAH12,50–13,00 per kg (unchanged against previous week/down 7.27% against last month similar); export market prices have lowed to US$465–500 per MT (down 3.02% as of last week/down 9.22% as of previous month similar). This week Ukrainian domestic market classic whey prices were UAH10,00–10,50 per kg (unchanged against previous week/down 13.87% against last month similar); export market prices have declined to US$400–420 per MT (down 2.38% against previous week /down 8.89% as of last month similar). Experts admit within this week Ukrainian domestic/export markets’ whey prices remained pressed by export market slack demand. It is to be admitted, domestic market purchasers’ activity has slightly grown — but not enough to stimulate prices’ growth.
In meanwhile, this week Ukrainian inner market GOST canned milk prices remained UAH11,8–14,1 per can (380 gr), unchanged against previous week.
